Malvern Victoria Bowling Club is a private club, founded in 1908. It is located in the picturesque Victoria Park, Malvern Link, and offers first class facilities for outdoor flat green bowling. We have a lovely 6 rink green with magnificent views towards the Malvern Hills.

Ladies,Gents and Mixed bowling are available to members, from early May until September,weather permitting. Non members are also very welcome to come along and use the green, experienced bowlers, and beginners with perhaps a view to learning the wonderful game of bowls.

Important Note - Coronavirus (COVID-19)


WE SHALL OPEN THE GREEN ON JUNE 1ST 2020. THE USE OF THE GREEN, HOWEVER, DEPENDS ON THE FOLLOWING RULES BEING ADHERED TO. THE GREEN IS OPEN TO MEMBERS ONLY.


PROTOCOL FOR MVBC PLAYERS DURING COVID 19


This guidance for our club is closely based on the advice we have received from Bowls England and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. Our priority is the safety and health of our members. These regulations must be followed to the letter.


We ask you to read them very carefully.

If the regulations are not followed, we will have no alternative but to close the green.


BEFORE THE GAME

1. Players MUST book the green before they turn up at the green. Players MUST NOT turn up on spec.

2. The only way of booking the green is by ringing the Booking Secretary, Don Handy. Don’s telephone number is 01886 832079.

3. There will be two sessions of 1 hr. 30mins: 2.00pm-3.30pm and 4.00pm–5.30pm.

4. Stay in the car until the previous players have left the premises.

5. Maximum of six players on club premises at any one time (assuming average of two people per rink who are not from the same household). This number can be increased if more than two people from the same household participate on the same rink.

6. No visitors or spectators admitted to the club.


PLAYING FORMATS

1. Only play on alternate rinks 1,3,5 or 2,4,6. (keep an empty rink between rinks that are being played on.)

2. Social distancing rules must be strictly obeyed. Two metres apart from another bowler.

2. Player deployment:

a. Individual(s) playing on their own on a single rink.

b. Two individuals from two different households playing on a single rink (no marker)

c. Members of the same household on the same rink.


CLUBHOUSE AND FACILITIES

1. Clubhouse closed.

2. Access is allowed to toilets and hand washing facilities.

3. Take all rubbish home.

4. Social distancing (two metres) must be observed at all times.


EQUIPMENT

To minimise the risk of infection only the essential items listed below should be used

IN ADVANCE

1. Do not go to the club if you are experiencing Covid 19, cold or flu symptoms.

2. Come in bowls attire. Don’t change clothes, except shoes.

3. Travel to club on your own or with members of your own household only.

4. Do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your allotted booking time.


PERSONAL CARE

1. Avoid using toilets at club, if possible. Clean anything you have touched after use.

2. You must bring your own hand sanitising materials.

3. Bring any food or drink you need with you.

4. Wash or sanitise your hands and any equipment you have used (including bowls, jacks and mats) before and after you play.

5. Sanitise padlocks, keys and door handles before and after use.

6. Two cleaning stations will be provided.


PLAYING THE GAME

1. No shaking hands, no hugs, no kisses, no high fives.

2. Only one player handles the mat.

3. Two jacks used (one at each end) set by one player.


SCORING

1. Observe social distancing

2. Don’t touch opponents’ bowls with your hands.

3. Avoid measuring for shots.
